seeing as it's been such a hot topic of late
i thought I'd share my thoughts on the Essena Oneil situation
she's done an amazing job at sharing her point and i applaud that
everyone seems to know who she is and what she stands for
i've followed her for a little while and noticed her tune change toward social media
i always appreciated her opinions and understood where she was coming from
the thing is, i don't completely agree with how she's gone about it all
but what she did was her choice
yes, social media is a huge part of life, especially our generation
for some people perhaps it's not real life
as a 'blogger' i will admit that in the past I have felt forced to post photos of clothes i would personally never wear
but that was my own fault for allowing that to happen, I had every right to say no
but now I know how to stay true to my personal style
and I always remind myself that my blog is my creative outlet
blogging is a chance for me to share my photography, personal style and my inspiration
if one of my outfit posts helps someone style something in different way, i think that's pretty cool
social media is whatever you want it to be
if you want to pretend your life is perfect on there, then you have the right to
i feel what happened to Essena is a reflection of our society and the pressure of perfection we sometimes feel we have to be
however, we dont have to succumb to anything we don't want to
i don't think we should go about each day living through our phones
there's nothing worse than trying to have a conversation with someone who isn't paying attention because they're scrolling through their instagram feed
in summary, I personally like social media, it helps to keep us all connected
like anything in life, it should be done in moderation
like anything in life, it should be done in moderation
it's all about balance
